Day 1 - Uni Studios + LA Kings

Hi all, apologies for being so tardy in updating. The weather has been kind, the girlfriend has been sweet and the travel has been engaging to the point where I haven't had time to breathe. :) Plus, no internet so, no updates. Till now! :D Am currently in San Diego while my girlfriend lies on the bed and nua's and mulls on the events to come. Ah, bliss. :p

Anyhow, Los Angeles has been a pleasant experience thus far - bar the little trouble at the hostel where they asked for a voucher I didn't get. That was sorted out pretty quickly though, thank goodness, but no more booking through statravel, life is a lot easier through expedia. :)

Day 1 - Universal Studios
Our trip began with a sojourn to Universal Studios - a little delayed due to the check-in problems, but it turned out a pretty good time for us. Bus drivers in LA are tremendously helpful and knowledgeable, and without them we'd probably have been so lost and gone. Shortcuts, connections, direction - you name 'em, they got 'em. :)

Uni Studios was a bit small, and the attractions weren't that great. That said, the studios tour was pretty fun, and the Special Effects tour was hosted by an amazingly funny fellow - completely gay, completely bitchy, and thus completely amusing. I strongly recommend it. :) Thankfully, the studios were pretty quiet so we didn't have to fight with too many folks. :) No glimpse of anyone famous, but it was a nice day. :)

We ended off with a trip downtown to the Staples Center where we watched the LA Kings get their butt kicked by the Colorado Avalanche. Pretty bad, and I don't fully get ice hockey yet, but it was an experience. :)

We found ourselves in Hollywood proper, and took a short walk around the Walk of Fame. Quite pretty, though we were amused to find that we were walking on it because it was so freaking nondescript.

That's a bank. Only in Hollywood folks, only in Hollywood. :)

NBC Universal Office, right outside Uni Studios.

Us at the entrance with that famous-ish globe.

Me being a Rhinestone Cowboy.

One of them houses on Wisteria Lane I think.

A set from War of The Worlds - quite impressive.

Us at the Xmas tree, complete with film reels!

Me and Beetlejuice. I think he has better skin.

Wendy being vain. :p

Me and Dracula. Who hit on my girlfriend later, rargh.

Staples Center at night. Nice huh.

Team in white beats team in black. People whine. Story of hockey. :)

So that's it so far for the trip, shall update about Disneyland when I next can get a connection. :) Have a great hols y'all.
